Global Scale

Greenpeace:

 This international NGO focuses on environmental protection, including issues related to sustainability and recycling. It promotes environmental protection and social justice. World Wildlife Fund (WWF):

Established in 1961, the organization has become one of the world’s largest and most respected conservation organizations. The WWF works in various ways to achieve its goals. These include conducting scientific research, supporting conservation projects on the ground, advocating for policy change, and raising awareness about environmental issues. Additionally, the organization focuses on various issues; including climate change, deforestation, overfishing, and biodiversity loss. Furthermore, the WWF works with governments, businesses, and local communities to create sustainable solutions and respect the needs of both people and nature.

Regional Scale

Zero Waste Europe:

Zero Waste Europe is a non-profit organization based in Brussels, Belgium. It promotes and supports the transition to a zero waste society in Europe. The organization was founded in 2013. It is a member of the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA). GAIA is a global network of over 800 grassroots groups, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in more than 90 countries. It aims to promote waste reduction and prevention, and environmentally sound management of resources and waste.

Zero Waste Europe focuses on inspiring and empowering individuals, communities, and governments to adopt more sustainable and circular approaches to resource management. Therefore, the organization works to influence policy, raise awareness about the benefits of waste reduction and prevention, and provide technical assistance to communities and businesses working to reduce waste and increase resource efficiency.

Some of the specific ways that Zero Waste Europe aims to achieve its goals, include advocating for strong waste reduction and prevention policies at the national and European levels, conducting research on waste reduction and resource management, and supporting the development and implementation of zero waste strategies and programs in cities and communities across Europe.

European Environmental Bureau (EEB):

The European Environmental Bureau (EEB) is a federation of more than 140 environmental organizations from across Europe.  It aims to protect and improve the environment in the European Union (EU) and beyond. Established in 1974, the EEB is the largest network of environmental organizations in Europe. It plays a key role in shaping environmental policy at the EU level.

The EEB operates on various environmental issues, including climate change, air and water pollution, biodiversity, and resource efficiency. The organization conducts research, engages in policy advocacy, and supports its member organizations and other stakeholders. The EEB also aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote sustainable lifestyles and consumption.

One of the main ways that the EEB promotes environmental protection is by participating in the policy-making process at the EU level. The organization works with the EU institutions and other stakeholders to influence the development and implementation of environmental legislation and policy.
